I have been reminded by God that I have not been giving the embolization process a fair shake in my writing. So here I am to remedy that.
The usual way to handle these types of post-surgical troubles is to do an exploratory surgery in a very sensitive area of the body searching for a needle in a haystack. Frequently, the second surgery can do more damage than good, and the end result of a successful one is a tied off thoracic duct which never works again.
The embolization we attempted on Monday was an alternative to surgery, and as far as alternatives go, it is definitely preferable. We were warned ahead of time that it might not work, and we were informed that if they could not find the leak they would attempt to create scar tissue to slow the leak over time. So the damage done was not unexpected, and it was approved in advance by us. It was also very disappointing to receive that news afterwards.
We are still asking God to use the procedure throughout this week to heal her body, and Liberty is very happy that her body got to be the first one at this hospital for two things: the thoracoscopic surgery and the embolization. We are all hoping both of these procedures will be used by God here in the future to help many others.
And whether the procedure works or not, I am truly grateful to this entire team of people who care about my girl and who are really working hard to help her. I want to make that very clear. ❤️
